Dhakai Jamdani
The dhakai jamdani is the handwoven muslin of the Dhaka region, patterned with fine floral, geometric and figural motifs that are worked into the cloth itself on the loom, rather than printed or embroidered after weaving. The weaver picks out each motif with extra weft threads, often of silver or gold, using a technique of supplementary weft float work, so that the pattern appears woven through the sheer, fine-count cotton. The craft was patronised by the Mughal courts and has been practised for centuries along the banks of the rivers around Dhaka and Narayanganj, and it was inscribed by UNESC
