Dvojanka
The dvojanka is a double flute of North Macedonia, carved from a single piece of wood, sometimes elder or ash, as two parallel pipes joined at the mouth, with fingerholes on one pipe only. The second, unholed pipe serves as a drone, sounding a steady note beneath the melody and giving the instrument its haunting, reedy character; regional names include dvojnica, and similar double flutes are known across the Balkans.
