Ehecailacacozcatl
The ehecailacacozcatl, the 'wind jewel,' is the spiral shell breast ornament of the wind god Quetzalcoatl in his aspect of Ehecatl, worn at the throat and tied to the whirlwind that sweeps the road before the rain god Tlaloc and scatters the seeds of the world. Aztec images of Quetzalcoatl-Ehecatl show the cut conch worn as a pectoral and the spiral shell among his emblems, and the Florentine Codex connects the wind god's journeys to the clearing of the rain's path. The shell is the conch of the wind, its spiral echoing the whirlwind and its sound carrying the breath of the god, and the orname
