Eye of Horus
The Eye of Horus, the wedjat, is the ancient Egyptian amulet of the eye that the god Thoth healed after the falcon god Horus lost it in his contest with Set for the throne of Egypt. The healed eye became a sign of wholeness, healing and protection, and wedjat amulets in gold, lapis lazuli, faience and stone were worn by the living and placed on mummies from the Old Kingdom into the Graeco-Roman period.
