Swedish Folk Costume
The Swedish folk costume (folkdräkt), the regional dress of parish and province, worn for work and festivals and gradually codified from the 18th century. Each district had its own colours, cut, embroidery, and accessories such as the flounced apron and the bodice. The national costume, the Sverigedräkt, was created in 1903 by Märta Jörgensen and has since been widely adopted.
