Freyr's Sword
Freyr's sword is the magic blade of the god Freyr that fights by itself, without a hand to wield it. In Skírnismál, Freyr gives the sword to his servant Skírnir as payment for wooing the giantess Gerðr on his behalf — a gift of the self-fighting sword in exchange for love. The loss is fatal at Ragnarök: the Prose Edda recounts that Freyr, lacking his good sword, fights the fire giant Surtr and falls, having given away his only weapon.
