Gaida
The gaida is the Bulgarian bagpipe, an instrument built from a whole tanned goatskin that serves as the air bag, with a chanter pipe for the melody and a single long drone pipe that sounds a constant bass note. Its bright, cutting tone comes from a single beating reed in the chanter, and a skilled player holds the bag under the arm, fingers the chanter's holes and taps out rhythms as he squeezes.
