Galdrastafir
Galdrastafir, the collective name for the magical staves of Icelandic folk tradition, drawn from the 17th century onward in grimoires such as the Huld manuscript. Each stave mixes rune-like strokes into a sigil for a single aim — protection, luck, healing, or harm. They form the best-documented stave-magic corpus in Europe, though many survive without clear instructions for use. The signs descend from medieval rune practice, but they were amplified into dense, staff-like figures that could be carved on wood, cut into horn or bone, or drawn on paper and skin.
