Gallehus Golden Horns
The Gallehus golden horns are two magnificent drinking and ritual horns of the 5th century AD, found in a field at Gallehus in southern Jutland in 1639 and 1734 and among the most famous objects of Nordic antiquity. The shorter horn bore a Proto-Norse runic inscription along the rim, 'ek hlewagastiR holtijaR horna tawido' — 'I, Hlewagastir (also read as LagestheR) of Holt, made the horn' — one of the earliest complete sentences written in the Elder Futhark.
