Garamantian Rock-Art Chariot

The Garamantian chariot is the two-wheeled horse-drawn vehicle represented in the rock art of the Libyan Sahara, above all in the massif of the Tadrart Acacus, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985. The engravings, often showing the horse at a stylized 'flying gallop', belong to the Horse Period of Saharan rock art and are attributed to the Garamantes, the desert people whose kingdom in the Fezzan and capital at Garama are confirmed by archaeology and by the classical writers.
