Hliðskjálf
Hliðskjálf is the high seat of Odin in Valhöll, from which the All-Father can see across all the worlds and watch everything that happens among gods, men, and giants. The Prose Edda describes it as a throne of far-seeing power, and both Odin and, at times, his wife Frigg use it to scan the cosmos. Sitting in it unbidden was dangerous: the god Freyr once took the seat, was struck by a sight of the giantess Gerðr in the distance, and fell so hopelessly in love that he sent his servant Skírnir to woo her, giving away his own magic sword as payment — the sword whose loss later costs Freyr his life
