The kantsi is the drinking horn of the Georgian highlands, cut from the curved horn of an ox, aurochs or mountain goat, polished, and often mounted at the rim in chased silver, sometimes with a small stand or a chain to hang it by. It is the fixed vessel of the supra, the Georgian feast, where the tamada raises the horn for each toast and custom requires it to be drained to the bottom in one draught before it is passed on; to drink from the kantsi is to honour the wine, the host and the speaker.
