Khukuri
The khukuri is the curved blade of the Nepali Gurkha tradition, broad and heavy near the tip, tapering to the hilt, and used for cutting wood, clearing brush, daily chores and ceremonial display. The name is spelled kukri in British usage, and the blade is forged by Nepali kamis, the metal-working caste, who shape it at a charcoal forge and temper the cutting edge while leaving the spine soft enough to absorb shock. It is carried in a leather scabbard together with two smaller knives, the karda for fine work and the chakmak for sharpening, and the distinctive notch at the blade's base is a mar
