Mantle of Tegau Eurfron
Tegau Eurfron's mantle, the Mantle of Tegau Gold-Breast, is one of the Thirteen Treasures of the Island of Britain listed in medieval Welsh tradition. The garment would fit only a woman who had been faithful to her husband; a wife who had broken her vows could not wear it, and it would not cover her, revealing the truth of her conduct to the court. Tegau herself, the wife of Caradog, is praised in the Welsh triads as one of the three faithful wives of Britain, and the mantle is the token of her chastity. The object belongs to a family of chastity-testing garments found across medieval Europe,
