Nábrók, the 'corpse breeches' or necropants, is a garment of Icelandic folk magic made from the skin of a dead man's lower body. According to the tradition recorded by Jón Árnason and still told today, the wearer first made a pact with a living friend that if either died, the survivor might flay the dead man's skin from the waist down; the intact skin was then worn like trousers, becoming one with the wearer's own body.
