The Grail of Peredur
The dish or salver carried in the mysterious procession at the castle in the medieval Welsh romance Peredur ab Efrawg is the Welsh cousin of the Holy Grail. In the romance, Peredur, staying at a strange castle, watches a procession in which a youth carries a spear with blood dripping from its tip, followed by a woman bearing a salver on which lies a severed head. Peredur does not ask about what he has seen, and for his silence he is cursed; only later does he learn that the head was that of his cousin, slain in vengeance, and that the vision was linked with the wounding of the Grail king.
