Pysanka (Ukrainian Decorated Egg)
Ukrainian Easter egg decorated by the wax-resist method: a stylus called pysachok draws lines of hot beeswax on the shell, which is then dyed in successive colours, ending with the wax melted away to reveal the pattern. Pysanky bear solar, plant and animal motifs linked to spring rebirth, and eggs were kept in the house as protective charms.
