Seto Folk Costume
The Seto women's folk costume of south-eastern Estonia's Setomaa: a striking white, black and red ensemble of striped or checked skirt, linen blouse, woven belt and heavy silver jewellery, above all the large seto silver brooch with its coin pendants. The costume is integral to leelo, the polyphonic singing tradition inscribed by UNESCO in 2009, for the Seto choir sang in traditional dress, and it is worn for church feasts, weddings and Seto Kingdom Day, where it announces the wearer's village and lineage.
