Shebeke (Sheki Stained-Glass Lattice)
Shebeke is the stained-glass lattice window of the Azerbaijani town of Sheki, built by fitting hundreds of small panes of coloured glass into a web of walnut strips that hold together by interlocking notches, without glue, nails or any backing frame. Each joint is cut and fitted by hand, and a single panel can take months of patient work, which is why the masters call the craft the art of patience. The finest surviving example is the Sheki Khan's Palace of 1762, whose roughly 190 windows hold up to five thousand glass fragments, throwing soft blue, red and green light across the painted walls
