A Norwegian silver brooch worn at the throat, made of a central disc or crescent with dangling pendants, fine wirework, and sometimes small spoons or drops of silver. Soljer were the most important piece of a woman's festive dress, passed down through families, and often given as betrothal or christening gifts; a bride might wear several at once on her finest bunad.
