The Ljungby Pipe
The Ljungby pipe, a whistle of carved bone or ivory kept together with the Ljungby horn at Trolle-Ljungby Castle in Scania, southern Sweden. In the legend the trolls beneath the boulder Maglestenen offered the pipe, together with their drinking horn, to a stable hand who came to their Christmas feast; it was playable from both ends and formed one half of the trolls' treasure. When the servant fled with the horn and the pipe, the trolls' pursuit broke against the cross-shaped furrows of the plowed field, and their curse fell on the castle instead.
