The Troll's Mitten
A mitten that a troll or giant is said to have dropped and left behind, so large that a human could use it for shelter or sleep inside the thumb. The motif of the lost glove or mitten of the troll folk appears in Swedish tales as proof of the hidden people's size, and finding it is both marvellous and dangerous. In one telling a traveller lost in the woods finds shelter from the storm inside a huge abandoned mitten, only to learn at dawn that he has slept in the dropped glove of a jätte, one of the ancient giants of Swedish folklore. The giants and the trolls of Swedish tradition are close kin
