Trundholm Sun Chariot
A Bronze Age cult figure found in the Trundholm bog on Zealand, Denmark, in 1902: a bronze horse pulling a large gilded bronze disc, all mounted on a six-wheeled stand. The disc is gilded on one side and plain bronze on the other, an image usually read as the sun drawn across the sky by day and returning beneath the earth by night. It is the oldest such sun-horse image in Nordic art and a central piece in the debate over Bronze Age sun worship. The chariot is now in the National Museum of Denmark and has become a national symbol, reproduced on coins and in popular culture.
