Trollkors
A protective cross carved, cut, or forged onto a building, door, or object to stop trolls and harmful powers from harming people or livestock. Documented chiefly in Uppland, Sweden, with similar marks on Norwegian medieval buildings, the crosses were set over doorways and windows and on cookware and loaves of bread. A looped-iron amulet from Dalarna in the 1990s became a tourist talisman.
