Aina-Kizz, an incredibly clever young girl from Samarkand, helps her widowed mother by using her intelligence to outwit a greedy black-bearded bai (rich man). The bai boasts of impossible feats — that he once grew a wheat field so vast that a whole caravan got lost in it, and that the caravan emerged from his mouth when he ate bread.
