Baron Samedi (Baron Saturday) is one of the most iconic lwa of Haitian Vodou, the master of death, tombs, graveyards, and resurrection. He is depicted wearing a top hat, black tail coat, dark glasses, and cotton plugs in the nostrils like a corpse prepared for burial. Often shown as a skeleton, he speaks in a nasal voice and is known for disruption, debauchery, and his fondness for tobacco and rum.
