Bijan and Manijeh
Bijan, a knight of Iran and son of Giv, is sent to drive wild boars from Armenian fields. Afterward, the envious knight Gorgin tempts Bijan to cross into enemy Turan by describing the beautiful gardens of Afrasiab. Bijan meets Manijeh, the daughter of Afrasiab, and they fall in love. She drugs him and smuggles him into her chambers, but Afrasiab discovers them and chains Bijan in a dungeon. Manijeh is exiled to wander the wilderness.
