Bárðar Saga - The Guardian of Snæfell
Bárðr, born of a human mother and a father who was half-giant and half-troll, settles in Snæfellsnes. After a series of family conflicts involving his brother and children, Bárðr gives away his land and vanishes into the Snæfellsjökull ice cap. He becomes the guardian spirit of the region, appearing in a grey cowl to help those in need during times of great difficulty.
