Brer Rabbit, overconfident after countless successful tricks, encounters a creature he cannot outsmart. In some versions, it is Old Man Tarrypin (the terrapin) who turns the tables on Brer Rabbit; snip in others, it is a wise old woman or a young girl who matches wits with him.
