Brer Terrapin Outruns Brer Rabbit
Brer Rabbit, proud of his speed, mocks Brer Terrapin for his slow, plodding pace. Brer Terrapin challenges Brer Rabbit to a race. Knowing he cannot win on speed alone, Brer Terrapin stations his wife and several family members at intervals along the race course. At each mile marker, Brer Rabbit calls out 'Brer Terrapin!' and one of the terrapin family calls back, 'Here I am!' After several such exchanges, Brer Rabbit grows exhausted and confused, unable to understand how the slow terrapin keeps ahead of him.
