Bukit Shahbandar (The Warning Hill)

A Bruneian legend about Datu Mansur, a corrupt Shahbandar (harbor master) who abused his authority by overtaxing merchants and stealing from the Sultan's treasury. The people suffered under his greed, but none dared speak against him. An elderly village bomoh (shaman) named Nenek Fatimah warned him that the ancestors would not tolerate his corruption. When Datu Mansur dismissed her and increased his oppression, supernatural storms gathered over his hilltop settlement. Lightning struck the ground, the earth trembled, and the entire settlement — including Datu Mansur — was transformed into stone
