Creation of the Sun and Moon
In the Fourth World of Navajo tradition, First Man, First Woman, and Great Coyote planned the creation of the sun and moon. They summoned Black God (Fire God) from beneath the earth along with Water Sprinkler, House God, and Talking God. Turquoise Boy agreed to become the Sun and White Shell Girl the Moon, but demanded payment: the lives of all beings on earth.
