Departure of Changing Woman
In Navajo tradition, after the monsters were defeated and the world was made safe, Changing Woman decided to leave the earth. She gathered the Holy People and announced her departure to the West. She created a beautiful floating house made of turquoise, abalone shell, white shell, and jet, located on an island in the western ocean. Before leaving, she blessed the Navajo people and gave them the corn, sheep, and knowledge they would need to prosper. She taught them the ceremonies that would protect and heal them. Changing Woman decreed that she would live in the west forever, aging through the
