Gluskabe and the Monster Frog
A devastating drought struck the land of the Wabanaki. Rivers dried to dust, the lakes shrank, and the people were dying. A giant frog monster had swallowed all the water and held it captive in its bloated body. The people called to Gluskabe for help. Gluskabe found the giant frog sunning itself on a rock, swollen with all the water of the world. He approached carefully and, using his magic, made the frog laugh. As the frog's great mouth opened, a flood of water poured forth, refilling the rivers and lakes. Some of the animals that had been trapped in the frog's belly leaped out transformed —
