Gluskabe and the Wind Eagle
Gluskabe (Glooscap) was annoyed by the constant wind that made life difficult for his people. He traveled to the great mountain where the Wind Eagle — a colossal bird whose wingbeats created all the wind in the world — was perched. Gluskabe climbed the mountain and captured the Wind Eagle, tying its wings together so they could not move. Immediately the wind stopped. At first, everything was calm and pleasant, but soon the air grew hot and still. The water became stagnant, the people could not breathe, and the world began to suffocate.
