Čáhcerávga: The Water Wraith

legend · Finland · Sami

Unlike the Rávga (believed real), Čáhcerávga (Water Wraith) was known to be a fictional creature used to scare children away from dangerous waters. It was described as a long-necked, scary creature that might carry a child away. It was said to appear in all bodies of water where children were not supposed to go, including wells.
