How the Sky-God's Stories Became Anansi's (Ashanti/Akan)
Anansi the Spider wanted to buy the stories of Nyame, the Sky God, who owned all the stories in the world. Nyame set a nearly impossible price: Anansi must bring him Onini the python, Mmoboro the hornets, Osebo the leopard, and Mmoatia the invisible dwarf. Through clever trickery, Anansi succeeded. He caught the python by pretending to argue about its length and getting the snake to stretch out on a branch, then tying it. He tricked the hornets into a gourd by convincing them rain was coming.
