How the Stálos Were Tricked
A classic Stállu trickster tale where a clever Sámi outwits one or more Stállu giants through cunning rather than strength. The story exemplifies the core pattern of Sámi Stállu narratives: a small, clever Sámi hero uses intelligence and knowledge of the landscape to defeat the much larger, stronger, but stupider Stállu. The Stállu's own knife must never be used against him as it gives him strength. After defeating Stállu, the hero must also kill Stállu's dog Rakke, which can lick wounds and resurrect its master.
