Ioskeha and Tawescaron: The Twin Brothers
After Aataentsic fell to the new earth, she gave birth to twin daughters. One of these daughters, Tekawerahkwa, became the mother of twin sons — Ioskeha and Tawescaron. The twins were opposites in every way. Ioskeha, the older twin, was the benefactor of the Huron people. He created the sun from his mother's body, brought light to the world, slew monsters, gave the people corn and tobacco, and taught them how to live. Tawescaron, the younger twin, was his antagonist.
