Jack in the Giants' Newground
Jack, a lazy mountain boy, decides to seek his fortune after his mother grows tired of his idleness. He arrives at a king's house and learns that giants have overrun the king's 'newground' (newly cleared land) and will not let anyone farm it. Anyone who goes against them is eaten. Jack volunteers, armed only with his wits and a bag of tricks. He encounters the giants and, rather than fighting them directly, uses cleverness to turn them against one another.
