Jábmiidáhkká: Ruler of the Underworld
Jábmiidáhkká is the female ruler of Jábmiidaibmu, the Sámi underworld. The dead missed their relatives, so she sometimes allowed them to cause diseases among the living. If the dead caught a living person's soul and dragged it to the underworld, that person would fall into a coma or fatal illness. She could allow the soul to return if sufficient offerings were made. Black animals were sacrificed to her by being buried alive under piles of stones.
