Juracán is the Taino god of storms and hurricanes, the origin of the English word 'hurricane.' In Taino mythology, Juracán was once Guacar, the twin brother of Yocahú, son of the mother goddess Atabey. While Atabey and Yocahú worked together filling the world with beautiful creations, Guacar grew jealous of their bond.
