Kaats' and the Bear Woman (Tlingit)
The Tlingit hunter Kaats' was hunting in the mountains near Glacier Bay when he encountered a bear who removed her skin and became a beautiful woman. He married her, and they had children who were half-human, half-bear. His bear wife provided for him and taught him about the forest, but Kaats' eventually grew homesick for his human village. When he tried to leave with their children, the bear wife pursued him. She called upon her bear relatives, and a great confrontation ensued.
