Kanati and Selu: The Origin of Game and Corn (Cherokee)
Kanati (The Lucky Hunter) and Selu (Corn) were the first Cherokee man and woman. Kanati would hunt by moving a rock at the entrance of a cave, releasing an animal and killing it. Their son befriended a Wild Boy born from the blood of slaughtered game. The boys secretly followed Kanati and discovered the cave; they opened it, allowing all animals to escape, which is why humans must hunt for food today.
