Nyurgun Bootur the Swift
The most well-known Olonkho epic of the Yakut (Sakha) people, consisting of over 36,000 verses. It tells the story of the hero Nyurgun Bootur, a warrior of the Aiyy (good) tribe who protects the Middle World (human realm) from the evil Abaasy spirits of the Lower World. The epic explores the balance between three cosmic worlds — Upper (gods), Middle (humans), and Lower (devils) — and features elaborate descriptions of the hero's battles, his celestial origins, and his role as protector of the Uraankhai Sakha tribe.
