Ol' Hige the Vampiric Witch
Ol' Hige is a witch from Jamaican folklore who sheds her skin at night and flies through the air in the form of an owl or a ball of fire. She harms people — especially babies — by sucking their breath while they sleep. Her habit of shedding her skin makes her vulnerable: if someone discovers her empty skin and fills it with salt and pepper, she will be unable to put it back on, burning terribly, and can be killed at dawn.
