Oochigeas and the Invisible Boy (The Mi'kmaq Cinderella)
A great chief had a son who was invisible. Only a woman who spoke the truth could see him. Many vain young women tried and failed, always lying that they could see the Invisible Boy. In a nearby village lived Oochigeas, the youngest daughter, whose face and hands were scarred from tending fires because her cruel elder sisters forced her to do all the hard work. Her ragged clothes were made of bark. She decided to try her luck and walked to the chief's lodge in tatters. The Invisible Boy's sister asked her the question: Can you see my brother?
