Oshún (Ochún) is the orisha of fresh water, love, fertility, beauty, and sensuality in Cuban Santería, syncretized with the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, Cuba's patron saint. According to the Ifá literary corpus, Oshún was the only female irunmole (primordial spirit) sent to assist in creating the world. The male spirits initially ignored her, and the world failed.
