Pele and Kamapua'a
The volcano goddess Pele and Kamapua'a, the pig demigod, had a tumultuous relationship oscillating between love and war. Kamapua'a could transform between human and giant pig forms and commanded the rains and forests. When he pursued Pele, she refused him, and a great battle erupted across the Big Island. Pele sent rivers of lava at him while Kamapua'a countered with floods and rain, extinguishing her fires. Neither could defeat the other. In some versions, they eventually married and had a child.
