One morning as the tide went out, the old people came to sit and watch the ocean. They saw a woman walking along the beach with her hair long and strung into eight braids — she was Octopus, carrying a digging stick to look for clams. She sat down on a rock and began to dig. Soon another person came along the beach, tall with glossy black hair — it was Raven. The old people predicted he would bother Octopus, and they knew it was not a good idea.
